ETL error handling and logging are essential in data warehouse environments because extraction, transformation, and loading processes must deliver accurate, complete, and traceable data for enterprise reporting and analytics. ETL workflows often process data from multiple operational systems, making systematic error detection, exception management, and audit logging necessary for maintaining warehouse reliability. Existing literature highlights data validation, reject handling, error tables, process logs, exception workflows, retry mechanisms, data lineage, and audit trails as major practices for managing ETL failures. However, many organizations still face challenges such as missing records, duplicate loads, transformation errors, source-system failures, unclear failure tracking, and difficulty identifying where errors occur in complex pipelines. This research is important because weak ETL error handling can reduce data quality, delay warehouse refresh cycles, and affect the accuracy of business intelligence outputs. This article discusses ETL error handling and logging in data warehouse environments, focusing on error classification, validation checkpoints, logging design, rejected record management, recovery procedures, monitoring dashboards, and audit-based traceability. The study concludes that effective ETL error handling and logging improve data warehouse reliability, reduce processing failures, support faster troubleshooting, and strengthen confidence in enterprise analytical systems.
